Water birth is a perfectly scientifically acceptable method of normal childbirth, recognized and applied for many years both in America and Europe.
Childbirth in water means that both the stages of labour and pushing, when this is safe from a medical point of view, take place in a specially designed swimming pool, at water temperature of 37-38°C.
Future mothers have the ability to move freely and not to take medicines. The soothing effect of water, the low lighting, the soft music, as well as the constant presence and active participation of the father in the whole process, ensures all necessary conditions for a beautiful birth, without stress and tension.
Water birth, which takes place at our hospital with supports all medical specialties, offers future mothers the opportunity to have a completely natural birth, but at the same time ensures conditions of utmost safety, both for them and their baby, as all structures are available at any time if this becomes necessary.

The obstetrics department of St. Luke's Hospital supports and promotes breastfeeding, in accordance with many of the guidelines of the World Health Organization and UNICEF for Breastfeeding in "Baby Friendly Hospitals".

After childbirth, our specialised midwives educate and guide with love and patience new mothers, helping them to conquer the art of breastfeeding.
• either through rooming in if the mother chooses to have the baby next to her 24 hours a day,
• or by transferring the infant from the infant ward to his mother at the first signs of hunger.
Even after leaving the Hospital, both the special Breastfeeding Counsellor of the Obstetrics Department, and the midwives are, at any time, willing to advise and help practically and psychologically the new mother to cope with her new role.
Do not hesitate to contact us, at any time you want, at 0030 2310 390526.
In the obstetrics department of St. Luke's Hospital, there is the possibility of rooming in, that is, the baby's cot is kept by the side of the mother's bed 24 hours a day. Rooming in is considered by experts to be one of the prerequisites for the successful exclusive breastfeeding of the infant and for this reason it is recommended to new mothers, when of course they are able to take care of the baby from the first moment of its birth.
Depending on the mother's desire, the baby can remain in the room for as long as she chooses, under the constant supervision and guidance of our midwives. In this way, the new mother:
• Becomes familiar from the first moment with the care of the newborn, so the return home is without stress and insecurity.
• Learns to recognize easily and timely the signs that indicate that the baby is hungry, which helps in the success of exclusive breastfeeding.
