Human Resources and Technological Equipment

The Radiodiagnostic Department of the Clinic "AGIOS LOUKAS" is fully equipped with all modern radiological equipment and digital technology systems, offering modern and effective imaging methods. In our Department, the entire spectrum of modern imaging is carried out, including examinations such as:

● Fluoroscopy

● X-rays

● Ultrasounds

● Mammograms – Tomosynthesis

● Bone Density Measurements

● CT Scans

● MRI Scans

● Specialised heart imaging tests (Cardiac MRI - CT Coronary Angiography)

In addition, in St. Luke's Hospital, we perform Examinations and Therapeutic Techniques of Interventional and Neuro-Interventional Radiology.

Digital Mammography is the most effective diagnostic tool in the detection of early breast cancer and is the only preventive test that has been shown to reduce mortality from breast cancer.

Our department consists of specialised and well-trained medical, technological and nursing staff and is one of the largest radiodiagnostic departments in Greece. Our teamwork and excellent spirit of cooperation, in combination with specialised knowledge and training, long experience and responsible professional behaviour, have as a final result the offer of innovative and high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services, in a safe and effective working environment, maintaining high ideals, values and ethics in the field of Medicine.

Highly trained and specialised medical, technological and nursing staff.

Based on the correct and timely diagnosis and in cooperation with the doctors of the other specialties, the most appropriate imaging technique is selected in combination with appropriate protocols, observing all the rules of radiation protection, in accordance with the international guidelines and the instructions of the Greek Atomic Energy Commission.

Our human resources consist of:

● Radiodiagnostics - Interventional Radiologists

● Radiophysicists

● Radiologic technologists

● Medical imaging equipment operators

● Nurses

● Secretaries

We discuss and analyse each case, so that the patient receives a comprehensive diagnosis from our medical team.

Modern equipment

Since 2008 and in line with the development of technology, the Radiodiagnostic Department has a digital system for archiving and communication of diagnostic images (PACS) for all patients (electronic exam file - DICOM images), which significantly improves the daily workflow and contributes decisively to the optimal operation and creative cooperation with doctors of all specialties.

Furthermore, our Hospital has:

Examinations carried out:

Cardiac Computed Tomography - CT Coronary Angiography, CT Angiography before TAVI

Cardiac MRI (in combination with the modern parametric sequences T1 mapping, T2 mapping, T2* mapping and specialised techniques for the estimation of myocardial strain parameters and the quantification of flows)

Stress Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging for the bloodless emergence of myocardial ischemia, without radiation (in contrast to the cardiac scintigraphy)

Brain CT and MRI, Spinal CT and MRI, CT and MRI Angiography, MRI Perfusion, Spectroscopy (MRI Spectroscopy), Cerebroscopy Flow Measurement, Neuronavigation Protocol, Functional MRI, Epilepsy Protocol, Desmography (Diffusion Tensor Tractography)

Breast ultrasound, Digital Mammography-Tomosynthesis with 3D Imaging, Stereotactic breast biopsy and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.

All appropriate radiology examinations, ultrasound examinations (abdominal ultrasound, ultrasound of the groin, testicles, brain ultrasound, hip ultrasound, ultrasound-cystography, etc.), MRI or CT scan tests with personalised special paediatric protocols

(e.g. Cerebral vessels, Carotid-Vertebral Arteries, Thoracic and Abdominal Aorta, Pulmonary vessels, Renal Arteries, Upper and Lower Extremities, etc.)

(Cerebral vessels, Carotid-vertebral arteries, Thoracic and Abdominal Aorta, Renal Arteries, Upper and Lower Extremities, etc.)

(thyroid, abdominal ultrasound, vessel ultrasound, soft tissue ultrasound, etc.)

The vision of the people of the department

Our vision is to continue to offer high quality care for our patients, applying innovative techniques to the Hospital's care system. Our diagnostic and therapeutic approaches always focus on the patients and their needs. This is achieved through personal contact and respect to patients, understanding their concerns and contributing to the best possible guidance, aiming at the optimal therapeutic strategy.

Through open communication with our patients, we provide the best possible options for them to choose the diagnostic or therapeutic method they prefer.

Research and continuous training of staff

In the Radiodiagnostics Department, the continuous training and education of the staff is one of our main priorities, as it allows us to look to the future and take into account all the current developments in the field of Radiology. Apart from the day-to-day clinical practice and collaboration with other scientific groups, we also participate in research papers by publishing scientific articles, while our presence in Greek and international conferences is particularly active and noticeable.

Always in the epitome of evolution and innovation.

Patient-centred collaboration

The Radiodiagnostics Department of St. Luke's Hospital cooperates with many doctors of various specialties (Cardiologists, Cardiac Surgeons, Internal Medicine Doctors, Urologists, Paediatricians, Paediatric Surgeons, Breast Surgeons, General Surgeons, Neurologists, Neurosurgeons, ENT Doctors, Oncologists, Gastroenterologists, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmologists, Pulmonologists, Thoracic Surgeons, etc.), offering high quality services and ensuring the best possible care for patients.

Our goal is to ensure the best possible care for our patients.

Emergencies

The Radiology Department of St. Luke's Hospital, with eagerness, love and readiness, supports and promotes the treatment of emergencies, both in hospitalised patients and outpatients, in the following ways.

24 hours a day there is a special Radiodiagnostics doctor who, supported by the complete and state-of-the-art technical equipment and the well-trained, experienced and cooperative technologists-operators of the radiological equipment, provides with safety and certainty all necessary information.

In cases of acute abdomen, if after the ventricular X-ray there is an indication, it approaches the problem of the patient initially with ultrasound:

In pediatric patients, to investigate acute appendicitis, intussusception, pyelonephritis, etc. In ingestion of a foreign body in children, initially chest and abdomen X-ray. If there is an indication, a CT scan is performed immediately.

CT scans are also performed to adults to investigate any ileus, find the cause of renal colic, investigate any visceral rupture, air escape.

Injury after a car accident or any other reason, to indicate any rupture of viscera.

In cases of any C.C.C., exclusion of bleeding or fracture with a CT scan.

Similarly, in acute musculoskeletal injuries, as the case may be, performing a simple X-ray, computed tomography or MRI.

In case of haemorrhagic, ischemic stroke or epileptic seizure, we perform a brain MRI.

In case of deterioration of a patient's health, the Department provides immediate information depending on the requested examination by the attending physician.

In pulmonary embolism, even in small branches of pulmonary arteries, a CT test is performed immediately with the state-of-the-art equipment of 128 incisions.
