The Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases of St. Luke's Hospital treats diseases that come from the endocrine glands or are related to metabolism.


Philosophy of the people of the department

The Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases of St. Luke's Hospital is dedicated to the excellent care of patients, the training of staff and the continuous development in the field of endocrinology and metabolic diseases. Our mission is to treat and guide the patient to come to terms with his disease and to maintain or improve his quality of life.


Which cases does the Department of Endocrinology cover?

The department covers the entire spectrum of acute and chronic diseases of the endocrine system.

The most common endocrine diseases are related to the thyroid gland. These are:
• Hyperthyroidism
• Hypothyroidism
• The thyroid nodule
• Multinodular goitre
• Thyroid cancer

From the parathyroid glands, which regulate calcium metabolism, it can be caused:

• Hyperparathyroidism
• Hypoparathyroidism

Diseases from other glands are related to:

• The pituitary gland
• The adrenal glands
• Female genital glands
• Male genital glands

In the Department of Endocrinology, we examine developmental disorders and adolescent development.

Metabolic diseases, such as type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidaemias and obesity are treated in our department, as well as metabolic bone disorders.

The Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases collaborates with specialised endocrine surgeons, ophthalmologists, internal medicine doctors, as well as with the Biochemical / Hormone Laboratory and the Radiodiagnostic Department of the Hospital in order to provide integrated and excellent services to patients with endocrine diseases.
