- FAQ-
Sustainability Ultrasound

It is performed transvaginally at the 6th - 10th week of gestation in order to determine the number of embryos, chorionicity and whether the pregnancy develops normally within the uterus.

First trimester - cervical transparency (11-14 weeks)

The examination is usually performed transabdominally, but in some cases it may be necessary for the examination to be performed transatrially. The reasons for conducting this examination are:
Accurate estimation of gestational age
Diagnosis of multiple pregnancy.
Diagnosis of significant fetal abnormalities or early negative heart function.
Assessment of the risk of Down syndrome, as well as other chromosomal abnormalities, taking into account its biochemical markers (β-hCG and PAPP-A).
The measurement of flow in the maternal uterine arteries to assess the occurrence of preeclampsia and residual fetal development in the third trimester of pregnancy.

Level II (20-24 weeks)

This is a detailed ultrasound, where we examine the anatomy of the fetus, conduct accurate biometry in order to assess its growth, determine the location of the placenta and estimate the amount of amniotic fluid. Particular attention is paid to the brain, face, spine, heart, stomach, intestine, kidneys and limbs. In addition, we measure blood flow to the maternal uterine arteries in order to assess the risk of developing preeclampsia and intrauterine residual growth.

 Gynecological ultrasound

It can give us answers to a variety of gynecological diseases of the internal genital organs.

Growth and Doppler > 24 weeks

It aims to calculate the development and well-being of the fetus by measuring the head, abdomen and femur length of the fetus. Blood flow to the placenta and fetus is also assessed and fetal activity is examined. Other processes are some of the following:
Measurement of the amount of amniotic fluid.
Assessment of the location and appearance of the placenta.
Assessment of elements of the anatomy of the fetus.

It is recommended to be carried out in all pregnant women, but especially in those who are at high risk, such as women with:
Risk of preeclampsia
Hypertension
Residual development of the fetus
Diabetes mellitus type 1 or 2 gestational diabetes mellitus
History of intrauterine death or some evolutionary anatomical abnormality that became visible in the third trimester of pregnancy

Estimating the length of the cervix

It is performed transatrially mainly during the B-level ultrasound. It is recommended to all pregnant women to assess the length of the cervix and therefore the likelihood of preterm labor (multiple pregnancies, women with a history of preterm labor, investigation of vaginal bleeding, assessment of placental position, congenital uterine and cervical abnormalities).

Biopsy of trophoblast/chorionic villi, (CVS — Chorionic Villus Sample)

Trophoblast biopsy is the examination of placental tissue. Both the embryo and the placenta come from the same fertilized egg, and so the chromosomes present in the cells of the placenta are the same as those of the fetus. Consequently, it can be checked whether the fetus has any genetic or chromosomal condition.

Amniocentesis

Amniocentesis involves examining the cells in the fluid surrounding the fetus (amniotic fluid). The cells in the amniotic fluid come from the embryo and so the chromosomes present in these cells are the same as those of the embryo. Thus, we can check if the fetus has some genetic or chromosomal condition.
