Kourtoglou

I was born in Thessaloniki in 1956. I graduated with honors from the Faculty of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in October 1980. After my military service and the Rural Service, I specialized in Pathology from 1985 to January 1990 at the Second Pre-Educational Clinic of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Hippocrates Hospital, headed by Professor P. Metaxa). I received the title of the specialty of Pathology after successful examinations. After exams, I was placed as a Special Postgraduate Fellow at the same Clinic to prepare a doctoral thesis. At the same time, I joined as a scientific associate at the Diabetes Center of the B'PP Clinic under the direction of Professor D. Karamitsu. I have been involved for many years in the clinical and research work of the Clinic and the Diabetes Department, as well as in the training of students and qualified doctors, nursing staff and post-graduates in diabetes mellitus. I participated in more than 80 research papers, many of which were published in Greek and foreign medical journals. I also published reviews and articles in magazines and books. In 1997, I successfully completed my doctoral thesis from the Department of Pathology of the Faculty of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, on the topic “The effect of inhibition of angiotensin converting enzyme on renal function of patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus” and was awarded a Doctor of Medicine. In 1998-1999, I worked as a Scientific Associate of the 4th Pathology Clinic of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with the same duties. From September 1999 to April 2000, I worked as the First Director of Pathology at the General Hospital of Thessaloniki “Papageorgiou”, where I also worked as a Diabetic outpatient clinic. Since 1990, I have been in charge of the Pathology and Diabetology Department of the Clinic “AGIOS LOUKAS” in Thessaloniki. At the same time, I maintain a medical practice in the city of Thessaloniki. I was also intensively involved in the treatment and treatment of overweight and obese patients with or without diabetes mellitus, patients with arterial hypertension, eating disorders such as psychogenic anorexia and psychogenic bulimia, as well as in the formulation and administration of diets to various population groups (adolescents, pregnant women, athletes, the elderly, etc.). I have participated in many clinical studies conducted under the approval of the EOF. I have also participated as a speaker and presenter in a number of scientific conferences and seminars, as well as in a number of events for the public. I have attended many post-graduate seminars and conferences in Greece and abroad. I am a member of many Greek and international medical scientific societies. I have been a member of the Board of Directors of the Medical Society of Thessaloniki (Library Curator) since 2015, the Philoptox Brotherhood of Men of Thessaloniki since 2017, as well as the Society for Macedonian Studies since 2008. I have offered free medical services to various charitable organizations from time to time many times. Married and father of two daughters.
